Rackable Systems appoints Maurice Leibenstern as general counsel

FREMONT, Calif. -- Rackable Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: RACK), a leading provider of servers and storage products for large-scale data centers, today announced the appointment of Maurice Leibenstern as General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, as well as Senior Vice President responsible for Corporate Development, HR and Facilities. Leibenstern brings to Rackable Systems 20 years of legal experience, focused in the technology industry. Most recently, he was Chief Legal Counsel for Worldwide Sales at CA (formerly Computer Associates, NYSE: CA) while serving as an SVP and member of the companys Senior Leadership Team.

Leibenstern's service at CA spanned 10 years, holding key roles including: founding and heading CA’s Intellectual Property, Products & Sales (IPP&S) practice; rebuilding CA’s legal department while streamlining CA’s direct and indirect licensing practices for the Americas; and serving as Lead Counsel for CA and its Board of Directors during the company’s government investigation in 2003 and 2004. Leibenstern most recently led worldwide legal coordination for CA’s Business Practices & Offerings and customer-facing sales initiatives, as Executive Legal Counsel to the Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales and the Chief Administrative Officer. Leibenstern’s experience also includes a successful career at IBM. As a member of the IBM Legal Department, he provided strategic legal support for IBM’s eCommerce, PSP computing, and Advanced Workstation divisions.
