Solution aims at providing a secure secure, high-speed wireless VoIP solution for service providers and enterprises.
December 17, 2004
Quintum Technologies has teamed up with Wi-LAN Inc. to provide a secure secure, high-speed wireless voice over IP (VoIP) solution to service providers and enterprises.
The solution allows enterprise customers to securely connect multiple locations with data and VoIP services with Wi-LAN's wireless network technology and Quintum's Tenor MultiPath architecture. According to the partners, the solution will permit highly available, low impact deployments, allowing service providers to bypass incumbent local carriers to provide integrated voice and data services.
Quintum Tenor MultiPath switches are deployed at both the customer premises and service provider access points in order to minimize disruption. According to the partners, the MultiPath switches permit the solution to be easily integrated into existing voice and data networks and, according to the partners, provide unparalleled failover and redundancy. Wi-LAN broadband wireless products feature multiple T1-level connections supporting VoIP, with maximum throughputs of 288 Mbps over distances of up to 46 miles (75 km).
"Wi-LAN's VoIP solutions offer a much needed alternative to traditional land line PSTN networks," Quintum vice president of marketing for technologies Charles Rutledge said in a statement. "Tenors work seamlessly over both types of networks and offer flexibility to service providers that no other VoIP equipment can."
