PostPath Offers Upgrade

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- PostPath, creator of the industry's only email and collaboration server that offers enterprises a drop-in, natively compatible alternative to Microsoft's Exchange(TM), today announced new migration support for Exchange 5.5 users. IT departments are under pressure to migrate away from Exchange5.5 as users push for large mailboxes, improved mobile-device support, and reliable and flexible web access. IT directors, for their part, are demanding high reliability, efficient email routing, and sophisticated fail-safe filtering and compliance. Adding to the pressure to migrate away from Exchange 5.5 is the fact that Microsoft ended extended support for it in 2005.

Despite these pressures, many IT departments have been reluctant to migrate from Exchange 5.5 to more recent Exchange releases. At least 20 percent of Exchange customers are still deployed on Exchange 5.5., according to Gartner ("Microsoft Exchange 2007," Matthew W.Cain, Gartner, September 26, 2006). Enterprises cite two primary reasons for their reluctance to migrate away from Exchange 5.5:
