ONStor Expands Pantera Line
ONStor expands line of Pantera virtualized storage solutions, setting new standards for scalability and efficiency
September 25, 2007
CAMPBELL, Calif. -- ONStor Inc., the leading provider of scalable clustered NAS solutions for the enterprise, today announced a new addition to its Pantera line of virtualized storage solutions with the launch of the Pantera 5000. A fortified version of its clustered NAS solution, the Pantera 5000 more than doubles the per cabinet capacity of the Pantera 2000 and offers higher performance to support the large, fast-growing file storage demands of medium to large enterprises and organizations with substantial digital imaging storage requirements. ONStor's newest product offers storage managers advanced power management; the ability to scale to massive capacities at a greater density; plus file server consolidation features to deliver a greener data center solution via low energy consumption, a reduced footprint, and lower cooling costs.
"ONStor has emerged as a thought leader in the green file storage arena," said Steve Norall, senior analyst, Taneja Group. "With the release of Pantera 5000, ONStor continues to push the envelope by delivering a denser, more scalable NAS solution with an industry-leading power and cooling footprint."
The ONStor product line, which includes the new Pantera 5000, the Pantera 2000 Series Clustered NAS, and the Bobcat NAS Gateway, offers enterprise customers a range of scalable NAS solutions designed to minimize the cost and administrative burden of managing data growth in real time across multiple tiers of storage.
Massive NAS Scalability, High Performance
The Pantera 5000 supports up to 112 drives per RAID controller and can scale up to 672 terabytes across eight nodes. With ONStor's global namespace (GNS) technology, customers can easily grow their networked storage environment while keeping storage provisioning and management simple. Furthermore, the Pantera 5000's open storage design accommodates heterogeneous storage and supports more than 40 enterprise storage arrays, enabling organizations to protect their investment by leveraging their existing storage devices. These capabilities eliminate the obsolescence and complexity common with traditional NAS solutions in high data growth environments."With persistent data growing faster than any other class of data, we designed the Pantera 5000 to meet customers' rising demand for very high- capacity storage that is cost-effective and easy to manage," said Bob Miller, CEO, ONStor. "We will aggressively be introducing 1 terabyte drives as they become available, to continually push the envelope of how much data companies can store while maintaining a simple, unified management scheme across multiple tiers of file storage."
