Coaxsys has announced that NTS Communications has chosen its TVnet solution as a key component in delivering Internet television (IPTV) to 60,000 customers in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico, Nevada, Colorado, and Arizona.
One of the largest privately owned fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service providers in the country, NTS will use TVnet to deliver multiple HD streams to each customer residence and offer services like video-on-demand, personal video recorder (PVR) networking, and high definition television (HDTV). NTS will deploy Coaxsys's IPTV 7000 coaxial cable-Ethernet adapter to easily deliver IP-based services over existing coaxial networks to customer premises. IPTV 7000 eliminates the customer need to rewire with Ethernet cabling to receive IPTV.
“Coaxsys’ TVnet is a critical component of our deployments, especially in multi-story dwellings," NTS vice president of Data Services Brian Stewart said in a statement. "There is no question that TVnet provides a considerable cost—and more importantly, time—savings. Not having to rewire with Cat-5 saves time and money, but perhaps more importantly, using a home’s existing coax allows us to have more predictable scheduling of installation times.
The provider will also use Coaxsys’ new TVnet/AC Ethernet-over-Coax adapter designed to integrate with the Amino AmiNET 110, 120, or 124 IPTV set-top boxes. The TVnet/AC unit features the same functionality of the IPTV 7000 system, but is packaged in an integrated-box design with an joint power supply with the AmiNET devices.
