RENO, Nev. -- NetXen, Inc., a leading provider of breakthrough 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) technology and products, today announced iWARP support for its award-winning 10GbE Intelligent NIC products. iWARP support is provided for the same NetXen 10Gb Intelligent NICs that have already been widely adopted by leading enterprise data center equipment providers including HP, IBM and others. NetXen is showing the new iWARP RDMA stack for the first time at SC07 in Booth #2737.

NetXen’s iWARP solution supports uDAPL (User Direct Access Programming Library), popular MPI (Message Passing Interface) implementations and is OpenFabrics Enterprise Distribution (OFED) 1.2 compliant. Support for the OFED 1.2 software stack is already integrated into major versions of Linux distributions from Novell and Red Hat, making the NetXen RDMA approach a “plug-and-play” solution for Linux users.

“Gigabit Ethernet is the most popular cluster interconnect today,” said David Pulling, president of NetXen. “And now with iWARP on 10Gigabit Ethernet, we are showing performance on par with InfiniBand; wall clock time for commercial applications like LS-DYNA is right on top of IB. This not only expands the use of Ethernet in the HPCC space, but more importantly it extends the use of RDMA technology into mainstream data center applications.”

“iWARP enables 10Gb Ethernet to deliver the low latencies required by clustered applications,” said Bob Wheeler, Senior Analyst at The Linley Group. “In addition, mainstream data center applications like Oracle RAC and SQL can take advantage of this innovation, expanding the RDMA market beyond the traditional HPC space. NetXen is well positioned to serve this broader market because leading enterprise server vendors such as HP and IBM already provide NetXen Intelligent NIC solutions, giving IT managers a proven source for infrastructure products.”
