NetScaler has released an upgrade to its network acceleration appliance that it claims will allow enterprise customers to accelerate the performance of any business applications, regardless of protocol, client type or user location.

The company claims the new technology will let enterprises boost the performance of Web and non-Web applications, without requiring network administrators to have knowledge of the applications or the users connecting to them.

The new technology, AppTune, supports a broad range of applications, including ERP, CRM, SFA, Email, office productivity, file processing, terminal services and portals, and selected vertical industry applications. The software automatically generates recommended settings to accelerate performance for that particular application. It supports a wide range of clients, including rich clients including Microsoft Outlook, non-Web thin clients, and mobile clients.

The company claims that acceleration benefits apply to all users, regardless of whether they are located on a local network (LAN), a wide area network (WAN) or a remote location not controlled by their employer.

AppTune technology will be available to NetScaler customers at no additional charge beginning in May 2005.
