Cybernet Systems Corp. has released NetMAX Professional 5.0, the company's most current version of its Linux software for Internet appliances and network servers. The new version offers enterprises, small to midsize businesses (SMBs) and value-added resellers a robust, favorably priced, full-featured Red Hat-based Linux server that is pre-configured to provide Apple/PC/Unix file sharing, e-mail, Web page serving, and firewall security.

According to Cybernet, NetMAX Professional 5.0 includes enhancements to security and performance, and simplifies deployment and management capabilities.

Because NetMAX Professional 5.0 delivers a suitable solution for almost any security or shared server requirement, the product is suited toward "white box" or custom PC builders that target the SMB market. The product can be purchased bundled with appliance hardware. The company claims a basic server can be set up in as little as 15 minutes. NetMAX Professional's web-based GUI provides remote point-and-click management and monitoring of the server, making it suited for deployment in multiple offices or for use by resellers.

NetMAX Professional 5.0 is available for download and as boxed product through Cybernet's online store at www.netmax.com/. NetMAX 5.0 pricing starts at $231.
