CLARET, France -- NETIA today announced an agreement through which its Radio-Assist 7.5 range of digital audio software programs will be integrated with Isilon® Systems' Isilon IQ clustered storage to provide best-of-breed data storage and security. Radio-Assist's DBShare database management module ensures the consistency of database contents, while the Isilon IQ storage solution provides added protection with SnapshotIQ™, SyncIQ®, and SmartConnect™ Advanced software, all of which contribute to preservation of file integrity and accessibility.

"Media content is the broadcaster's greatest asset, so it is critical to protect that material with the best solutions available," said Xavier deVynck, vice president of business development at NETIA. "In bringing together Isilon IQ clustered storage and Radio-Assist, we offer broadcasters a comprehensive solution for radio-station management, now equipped with unique data protection tools for scheduled global system snapshots, synchronization of databases, replication, and optimized access to stored media."

"The OneFS® operating system powering Isilon IQ clustered storage combines the three traditional layers of storage — file system, volume manager, and RAID — into one, single, highly scalable file system," adds Philip Crocker, director of marketing, EMEA, Isilon Systems. "Like NETIA's Radio-Assist digital audio software line, Isilon IQ integrates easily into existing environments and provides robust protection for broadcasters' valuable media assets. Our storage system runs under different platforms without the need for dedicated protocols, which makes this integrated product pairing a stable, easy-to-implement solution for virtually any broadcast facility."

The Isilon IQ family of clustered storage systems was designed from the ground up to meet the needs of data-intensive enterprises and high-performance computing environments. The Isilon IQ solution offers a range of data security software including SnapshotIQ, which enables instant global snapshots of the server system; SyncIQ, which allows for synchronization and replication processes; and SmartConnect Advanced, which allows users to optimize the number of client connections based on Network File System (NFS) and Common Internet File System (CIFS) protocols. In conjunction with Radio-Assist, and the DBShare module in particular, Isilon IQ delivers high storage capacity with simple management tools and a high level of data security.

DBShare is an automatic device that centralizes all communications with the Radio-Assist 7.5 database. By performing systematic and synchronous redundancy checks of all the metadata produced by the system, DBShare ensures the consistency of database contents. All databases are automatically synchronized, and when an incident occurs on one database, DBShare automatically and transparently switches over to another database and archives all the queries made during and after the incident. When conditions return to normal, the memorized queries are automatically executed and the database fully restored. The integrated solution, offered through NETIA resellers, comprises the Radio-Assist 7.5 software range along with a minimum of three Isilon IQ nodes associating Intel Xeon™ 3.3-GHz processing with 4 GB of cache and managing 12 SATA hard disks in RAID from 160 to 500 GB. The storage capacity of each node is 1.9 TB to 6 TB, and 88 nodes can be linked to provide a capacity of 528 TB. The cluster nodes are interconnected by a commutator InfiniBand of 10 Gbps and connected to the servers by Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.
