EarthLink has chosen Level 3 to be the VoIP provider for its new consumer service, EarthLink DSL and Home Phone Service. Level 3 will provide nationwide local voice service as part of EarthLink's bundled voice and broadband access package that includes caller ID, voicemail and three-way calling bundled with DSL.

Level 3 will support EarthLink's local, long distance and international voice traffic, and will provide voice origination, voice termination, directory listings, and caller ID. The Level 3 service will also allow EarthLink to connect its customers to the public switched telephone network. Also included is enhanced 911 service.

Level 3 already provides a lower-level VoIP offering to EarthLink, in which it offers its VoIP Enhanced Local service including local telephone numbers that EarthLink can assign to its voice customers.
