MINNEAPOLIS -- Kroll Ontrack, a leading provider of data recovery and legal technologies products and services, today announced it is now offering a free trial of its Ontrack® EasyRecovery™ product. With the ability to quickly and easily recover and repair virtually any file type, this free trial edition of the popular do-it-yourself software will help users who have lost or deleted an important file or are considering purchasing the product to recover multiple lost or deleted files immediately or for future recovery needs.

Data loss can and will occur at any time with the root cause stemming from a number of reasons including but not limited to, accidental or intentional deletion, software corruption, viruses or system failure. Through the Ontrack EasyRecovery product family, Kroll Ontrack provides both business and home users with a low-risk method for data recovery and file repair needs, helping to minimize downtime and the cost of lost productivity.

Specifically, Ontrack EasyRecovery Professional Trial and Ontrack EasyRecovery Data Recovery Trial options enable you to recover one file at no charge. To perform a recovery of more than one file, a purchased copy of Ontrack EasyRecovery is recommended. Files containing lost data that are not identified, or are corrupted but not repaired by Ontrack EasyRecovery, may be recoverable by a professional data recovery engineer. Moreover, Ontrack EasyRecovery is intended for recovery efforts on hard drives that are mechanically functioning. Hard drives that are physically damaged should be sent to Kroll Ontrack, provider of Ontrack® Data Recovery solutions, for assessment.

“Kroll Ontrack recognizes the increasing value of computer files, and truly understands the impact one file, such as a resume, thesis, financial spreadsheet or tax form, can have during a recovery effort,” said Jim Reinert, vice president of data recovery and software products, Kroll Ontrack. “Consequently, the new feature aims to provide an easy and immediate solution to those in need of a quick fix or offers a tangible trial for those looking to fully assess the product to determine if it meets their more intricate data recovery needs.”
