Juniper Networks on Monday named ShoreTel as its latest VoIP technology partner.

ShoreTel has joined Juniper’s J-Partner Solutions Alliances program as an infrastructure partner. The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based companies have tested their products for interoperability and will pursue joint sales and marketing opportunities that meld Juniper’s firewall, VPN and routing products with ShoreTel’s IP telephony offerings.

“Juniper’s advanced IP and security solutions combined with ShoreTel’s VoIP portfolio would provide a unique solution that solves the customer problem of securing VoIP. Based on this, Juniper decided to partner with ShoreTel to bring a joint solution to market. It’s a win, win, win,” said Tony Scarfo, vice president of global alliances at Juniper Networks, in an e-mail.

The two companies already share channel partners that currently build solutions based on both vendors’ product lines, he said.

Juniper already has a partnership with VoIP vendor Avaya, Basking Ridge, N.J. Juniper counts Avaya as one of its Strategic Alliance partners, a deeper partnership that includes joint product development, global product resale, marketing and global service programs.
