Ixia Demonstrates Carrier Ethernet Testing Capabilities At Carrier Ethernet World Congress
NewIxNetwork 5.40 Powers the world's largest carrier Ethernet test event
September 22, 2009
CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ixia (NASDAQ: XXIA), a leading, global provider of IP performance test systems, is currently participating in the world's largest and most advanced live, public Carrier Ethernet multi-vendor interoperability showcase at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress (CEWC), September 21-24, in Berlin. The showcase is organized by the European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC). Ixia played a critical role in testing Carrier Ethernet enabling technologies for many of the 24 vendors and 106 devices in the showcase.
Carrier Ethernet has matured significantly in the last five years to the point where transport and management protocols and implementations are ready to supply global services. The showcase network mirrors modern converged networks, including mobile radio access elements, IP/MPLS routers and both aggregation and access switches.
At CEWC, Ixia will be demonstrating its newest IxNetwork 5.40 release, powered by ViperCore technology. IxNetwork will test Carrier Ethernet transport technology vendor implementations including MPLS and PBB-TE and management services, such as Link OAM, Y.1731, Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) and Connectivity Fault Management (CFM). Using the XM12 chassis with 80 high-performance 1 Gbps test ports, Ixia will validate end-to-end data plane performance, including key measurements such as packet loss, throughput and latency.
"The focus of the interoperability showcase this year is around global interconnect, LTE-ready mobile backhaul and managed Ethernet services," said Carsten Rossenhoevel, Managing Director at EANTC. "IxNetwork's ability to test routing, switching and infrastructure elements was invaluable for establishing interoperability for Carrier Ethernet transport and management protocols. The large number of tester ports was instrumental in maximizing the number of test results."
"Carrier Ethernet has taken the next step toward mass deployment," said Vic Alston, senior vice president, Product Development, Ixia. "Switch, routing and management technologies have all reached a level of polish. IxNetwork's Carrier Ethernet coverage will be evident in this interoperability event."For more on Ixia's approach to Carrier Ethernet testing, please refer to Ixia's Carrier Ethernet solution site.
