SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BCSI), the leader in secure content and application delivery, today announced that Invacare Corporation has selected Blue Coat SG™ appliances to accelerate critical business applications across its Wide Area Network (WAN) between its headquarters in Elyria, Ohio and its Asia Pacific global sourcing office in Hong Kong. Invacare is a global leader in home medical products with manufacturing plants in the United States, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, France, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom and sales offices around the world.

Initial performance assessments show application response time ranging to upwards of 78 times faster due to the use of SG appliances. Invacare will use Blue Coat SG appliances to accelerate the remote operation of various Oracle enterprise applications, Lotus Notes and access to files not available locally.

“It is important to provide our Hong Kong office nearly the same level of responsiveness and interaction with critical enterprise applications as we have in our corporate headquarters,” said Roger Crayton, Manager of Intel and Security Services, Invacare Corporation. “We selected Blue Coat appliances to address a variety of WAN optimization challenges and provide flexibility for the future.”
