Filemaker yesterday announced the latest version of its Server 7 product. FileMaker Server 7 Advanced provides advanced web publishing and connectivity options for managing shared solutions for desktop and Web clients.

In addition to including all the features of FileMaker Server 7, Advanced provides simultaneous database hosting for up to 100 Web-based clients and 250 desktop clients within one software application. In addition, customers can integrate FileMaker databases with other applications using such industry standard connectivity options as XML, ODBC and JDBC.

According to the company, FileMaker Server 7 Advanced users can create a Web version of their FileMaker databases with a few clicks and no modifications and then share it with up to 100 users via a browser. That is 20 times the number possible using Instant Web Publishing in FileMaker Pro 7. FileMaker Server 7 Advanced also offers Custom Web Publishing, which delivers Web-based applications for customers, partners and other remote users.

FileMaker Server 7 Advanced is priced at $2,499 and runs on Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server, Windows 2000 Server SP4, and Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition. FileMaker Server 7 Advanced web publishing supports both Apache and IIS Web servers.
