WESTBOROUGH, Mass. -- ExaGrid Systems, Inc. (http://www.exagrid.com), the leader in cost-effective and scalable disk-based backup solutions with data de-duplication, today announced record sales for the third quarter ending September 30, 2007. Third quarter sales for the company increased 43% compared to the previous quarter, Q2’07, and 192% vs. the same quarter a year ago. ExaGrid’s compound quarter-over-quarter growth rate, Q4’05 to Q3’07, is 42%.

Along with strong sales results, the company continued to execute in a variety of important areas during the quarter. Key achievements in Q3’07 included the following:

  • Worldwide Channel Expansion: ExaGrid expanded sales and marketing efforts in Asia-Pac, signing new partners in China, Japan, and Thailand. In addition, ExaGrid began European sales and marketing activities, opening an office in the UK, and has recently signed a value added reseller in Norway and installed its first customer in Germany.

  • US Channel Expansion: In the United States, 15 new Value Added Resellers (VARs) joined ExaGrid’s VAR Partner Program during the quarter.

  • Commercial Customer Acquisition: ExaGrid continues to win against its competitors, gaining new customers in key industries such as: healthcare, financial services, engineering services, manufacturing, education and federal government. ExaGrid now has more named customer success stories (total of 19), on its website, than any other vendor shipping a disk-based backup system with data de-duplication. • Federal Government Customer Acquisition: ExaGrid has added many federal government customers during the quarter including the US Army, the US Navy and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The ExaGrid system was also added to a major government contract vehicle: the National Institutes of Health (NIH) ECSIII (Electronic Commodities Store III) contract.

  • New Product Release: In Q3, ExaGrid announced and shipped a major new release of its Disk-based Backup system, version 3.0. This new product version provides up to twice the backup and restore performance of previous versions, as well as scalability for a 20 TB full backup, plus retention, in a single GRID system. ExaGrid has also reduced its system footprint by 50 to 75 percent compared to previous versions by combining a two-server approach into a single server.

  • New Technology Patents: ExaGrid announced two technology patents during the quarter -- “Method and Apparatus for Backing Up to a NAS-based System with Byte-Level Delta Data De-duplication,” as well as “Method and Apparatus for Ensuring Long-term Data Integrity and Recoverability.”

“ExaGrid is taking advantage of the growing global market for disk-based backup solutions with an expanded US channel and the addition of Asia-Pac and European distribution partners,” said Bill Andrews, president and CEO of ExaGrid Systems. “With the best performing and most scalable product at the most competitive price, ExaGrid continues to be a fast-growing leader in the disk-based backup market.”
