Equant has announced a new suite of solutions designed to allow customers to connect small and satellite offices to a corporate virtual private network (VPN).

The company's new Small Office Solutions offerings are integrated packages that bundle the necessary equipment with network access and security, bandwidth management and total cost of ownership analysis consulting services. Installation of the Small Office Solutions will be overseen By Equant's DSL Center of Excellence.

The solutions are available at three levels designed for different applications. The Small Office Advantage solution is designed for small offices of up to five users, while the Select level offers locations of up to 25 users business-class asynchronous digital subscriber line (ADSL) network access, service level agreements (SLAs) and connectivity to Equant's multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) IP VPN service.

The Premier-level solution is intended for larger branch offices of up to 50 users. Intended as a replacement for leased lines, it provides symmetric digital subscriber line (SDSL) access, service and performance SLAs and access to Equant's IP VPN Gold service.

"This new portfolio of services allows us to provide customers with a network that is optimized at each site," Equant head of VPN Business Dennis Kruse said in a statement. "For example, a small retail store can connect to corporate applications cost- effectively using Small Office Solutions Advantage while a larger office can reliably support VoIP services using Small Office Solutions Premier. To the customer, they all look like a single VPN."
