SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Data Domain, a leading provider of Enterprise Protection Storage systems for disk backup and network-based disaster recovery, today announced it has joined the EMC Velocity Technology and ISV Program. This program provides tools and resources to companies that intend to utilise EMC technology to enhance or build a solution that augments the investment customers make in their technology. EMC has tested and qualified Data Domains Gateway product for use with selected EMC CLARiiON networked storage systems and the EMC Disk Library family. In addition, the two companies have executed a cooperative support agreement to support customers who deploy Data Domain’s Gateway with these qualified EMC storage solutions.

Data Domain’s Gateway products enable users to apply its award winning Global CompressionTM technology with third party disk arrays. By installing Data Domain’s Gateways in front of EMC CLARiiON CX300 or EMC CLARiiON AX150 storage arrays or behind an EMC Disk Library, data is reduced, enabling very cost effective disk backup. Data Domain’s Replicator software is also qualified for use to deliver extremely bandwidth efficient remote replication via WAN for disaster recovery.

“Now Data Domain’s advanced data protection technologies can be used with EMC products,” said Frank Slootman, president and CEO of Data Domain.“De-duplication technology-enabled disk backup is rapidly being adopted by enterprises that are serious about solving their data protection issues.”
