Crossroads Settles Patent Suits
Crossroads successfully settles outstanding patent litigation
November 27, 2008
AUSTIN, Texas -- Crossroads Systems, Inc. (Pink Sheets:CRDS), a global leading provider of solutions to connect, protect, secure and restore data-at-rest, today announced the settlement of its outstanding patent litigation with several providers of network storage solutions - including Compellent Technologies, Inc., Storage Engine, Inc., Accusys (USA), Inc., Arena-Maxtronic Inc., Ci Design Europe B.V., Rave Computer Association, Inc., Baydel North America, Inc. and Digi-Data Corporation.
Under the terms of these settlement agreements, each of these companies received a non-exclusive license to Crossroads' patented access controls technology. Filed on May 22, 2008, the lawsuit claimed that these companies sold solutions that violated one or both of U.S. patent Nos. 6,425,035 and 7,051,147 - which cover the ability to control access between hosts and storage devices in a networked storage environment. Crossroads is also pleased to announce that, independently of the patent litigation, a patent cross-license agreement was recently entered into with Xyratex Technology Limited under which Xyratex has also received a license to this access controls patent family.
"Our settlement of this litigation demonstrates Crossroads' continued commitment to protecting our extensive portfolio of intellectual property," said Rob Sims, President and CEO of Crossroads Systems. "In addition, we are particularly pleased to license our patented access controls technology to an industry leader like Xyratex, outside of litigation. While our focus continues to be the delivery of industry-leading storage products to customers, including our recently released awards-winning Crossroads ReadVerify Appliance(TM) 3.0 solution, we will continue to defend our leading-edge intellectual property positions as necessary."
