Coraid Adds SSDs to EtherDrive SAN
Coraid EtherDrive SAN delivers extreme performance with solid-state disks
March 6, 2009
SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. -- CORAID today announced that Solid-State Disks (SSDs) are now available for its EtherDrive SAN products. EtherDrive SAN provides fast storage area network solutions exceeding FibreChannel speeds at Ethernet prices. SSDs deliver outstanding performance, greater reliability, and significant power savings while providing the industry's highest IOPS per watt for storage area networks. Independent IOMeter test results show SSD yields more than 10X performance improvement over traditional hard disk drives. Tier 0 applications place a premium on performance, and EtherDrive SAN with SSDs deliver extreme IOPS using the ATA-over-Ethernet (AoE) lightweight network storage protocol.
"Many customers require extreme performance, and by combining SSDs with EtherDrive SAN we can deliver an even more affordable solution to meet this need," said James Kemp, CEO of CORAID. "Solid-state drives offer enormous benefits in applications where high IOPS are required. High IOPS are usually associated with smaller LUN size. CORAID's products enable customers to mix SSD LUNs with standard disk LUNs in the same EtherDrive chassis, providing customers a new degree of freedom to build SAN systems that meet every application need."
