Cisco Systems has completed the acquisition of privately held Reactivity

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Cisco Systems, Inc.,(NASDAQ: CSCO) today announced it has completed the acquisition ofprivately held Reactivity, Inc., of Redwood City, California.Reactivity is a leading XML (eXtensible Markup Language) gatewayprovider for organizations ranging from commercial enterprises to theGlobal 500.

Customers and major software providers are evolving their enterprisesoftware architectures from a client-server paradigm to aservice-oriented architecture. In addition, customers are deploying avariety of Web 2.0 capabilities that are collectively transformingthe World Wide Web from a collection of relatively static web sitesto a services rich computing platform.

The Reactivity acquisition demonstrates Cisco's commitment to theexpanding Application Networking Services (ANS) Advanced Technologysegment, which is an important part of Cisco's Service-OrientedNetwork Architecture (SONA) strategy and vision. Reactivitycomplements and extends the capability of Cisco's ANS portfolio forthese emerging application architectures.

With the close of the transaction, the Reactivity team and productportfolio are now integrated into the Cisco's Datacenter Switchingand Security Technology Group (DSSTG), reporting into Jayshree Ullal,Senior Vice President.
