SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- BLADE Network Technologies Inc. (BLADE), the leading provider of network switching infrastructure to the blade server market, today announced the release of the first full 10 Gigabit Ethernet Green Blade” switch for HP BladeSystem. For the first time, HP BladeSystem c-Class can now be equipped to provide 400 gigabits of Ethernet bandwidth for the high throughput and low latency required by blade server virtualization workloads and converged “single fabric” Ethernet networks. Blade servers equipped with 10G Ethernet links are emerging as the ideal platform for today’s server virtualization workloads using hypervisors such as VMware and other similar products. Organizations deploying a single fabric for their converged networks can now also realize the advantages of 10G Ethernet blade switches at less than $500 per 10G port for the new BLADE modules. The HP 10Gb Ethernet BL-c Switch based on BLADE technology is the first switch for HP BladeSystem c-Class to deliver full 10G Ethernet connectivity directly to each server blade. The switch excels with 9x lower latency, 2x more throughput and 16x better price-performance than conventional chassis-based 10G Ethernet switch modules.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- BLADE Network Technologies Inc. (BLADE), the leading provider of network switching infrastructure to the blade server market, today announced its new “Green Blade” Ethernet switches for NEC’s SIGMABLADE Blade Server System. BLADE’s 1Gb Intelligent Layer 2 and Layer 2/3 Switches provide 48 Gigabits per second (Gbps) of switching capacity and consume just 25-30 watts. The BLADE switches can eliminate up to 94 percent of cabling compared to other connection options and provide significant power savings over external chassis-based switches, dramatically reducing data center costs and complexity. NEC holds the leading share of blade server unit shipments for Japan and intends to leverage its recently revamped SIGMABLADE blade server product line with embedded Ethernet networking to maintain and extend its market leadership.
