BindView Corp., Houston, has taken the wraps off version 2.1 of its Compliance Center policy and compliance management software with new capabilities for monitoring security controls for compliance management.

Compliance Center provides built-in exemption management capabilities to identify systems that have failed compliance checks and drills down to specific details. The new version includes new mapping capabilities, which map actionable IT security controls directly to regulations with Regulatory Report Views. These views provide IT professionals, business executives and auditors with a single view into an organization’s combined security compliance posture, according to BindView. The Executive Level View limits modification access while enabling read-only reviews of reports to help auditors verify the authenticity of report content.

Version 2.1 also offers new capabilities for building custom templates based on e third-party standards or internally defined policies. Templates now support benchmarks from the Center for Internet Security (CIS) and the National Security Agency (NSA).

BindView has added new database and messaging application support to secure Oracle and SQL Server data stores and Microsoft Exchange. It can also integrate with HP Service Desk and Remedy Help Desk to generate remediation assignments automatically based on criticality and re-evaluates out-of-compliance systems to confirm that tasks are completed.

The new version also integrates Shavlik Patch Management to provide automated patch updates from Shavlik to ensure organizations are supplied with the most current patches.BindView Compliance Center 2.1 will be available at the end of the third quarter, 2005.
