SEATTLE -- Attenex Corp., a leading e-discovery software provider, today announced a new e-discovery case study that illustrates how Attenex Patterns® E-Discovery Software can dramatically speed up and reduce the cost of e-discovery’s most expensive process, legal review.

The case study focuses on a U.S. corporation and its AmLaw 10 law firm handling a pre-merger antitrust review conducted by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), a regulatory body charged with the enforcement of U.S. antitrust laws. The FTC issued a “Second Request,” a common practice that requires the additional collection and review of documentary material relevant to the proposed merger, and the legal team had less than six weeks to review nearly a million electronic documents that had been collected from 30 key individuals at the two merging companies.

The law firm tapped SQ Global Solutions, an Attenex Review Partner Program member and one of India's premier Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) firms, and their review attorneys used Attenex Patterns to find the emails and electronic documents relevant to the matter. Due to the software’s ability to cluster documents according to similar subject concepts, rather than rely solely on search, SQ Global was able to review the data in four weeks, representing a significant cost and time reduction for review. Using traditional methods and even other e-discovery applications, this process would have cost three or four times as much due to the need for a larger review team in order to complete the process in the same amount of time. “In countless real-world cases, Attenex Patterns provides dramatic speed and cost savings to customers, whether for litigation, investigations or regulatory requests,” said Mike Kinnaman, vice president of marketing for Attenex. “This case study is yet another example of why our unique offering has become the industry standard for e-discovery – trusted software that reduces the cost and time for legal review, and a global partner network that can scale to meet any needs.”
