SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Orange Business Services and Atrica today announced the launch of i-SAN, a Storage Area Network (SAN) solution offered as an additional service on Orange Business Services award-winning MAN Ethernet and Datacenter networks. i-SAN provides a functional and affordable SAN interconnection alternative to businesses of all sizes and is completely integrated in terms of operation, supervision and management into Orange Business Services network solution via one or several FC100 or FC100/FC200 Fibre Channel interfaces delivered on a innovative SAN gateway.

As an Inter-MAN service, i-SAN will be offered across Orange Business Services MAN Ethernet network in France with no distance limitations. Running on Atrica’s portfolio of high-performance aggregation and edge switches with provisioning and management controlled by Atrica’s powerful ASPEN management module, small/medium and large size (SMB and LNA) enterprises will benefit from the choice of multiple topologies (P2P, M2P or any to any) plus rapid site additions/alterations or on-demand bandwidth provisioning. Based on Carrier Ethernet’s five service attributes – scalability, reliability, Quality of Service, standardized services and service management, – i-SAN offers exceptional performance, reliability and ease of use plus the cost benefits of its Ethernet technology. The service is compliant with Metro Ethernet Forum standards (like MEF-9) and the SAN gateways integrated by Orange are certified from major storage vendors including EMC2, IBM and HP.

“Carrier Ethernet is being widely adopted as the transport architecture of choice by Telcos and service providers” commented Danny Cote, Head of Network Solutions, Orange Business Services, “Businesses of all sizes grow increasingly dependent on information and data to run their operations. What’s more, Storage Area Networks are increasingly deployed by enterprises and service providers to interconnect storage devices and application servers. That makes i-SAN the logical development to our award-winning Carrier Ethernet portfolio, and we anticipate a significant level of interest – especially from our medium to large size customer base.”
