WASHINGTON -- Aspera Inc., software developer of industry-leading, bulk data transport technology, today announced they will be exhibiting their fasp 2.0 high-speed file transfer products at GVExpo, the tenth annual gathering of the government-based media community. Aspera will demonstrate their core transport technology and product line which is the industry leading standard for high speed file transfer in digital media production, collaborative media management, and for enterprise-wide file sharing, including reliable delivery of files over difficult DOD tactical links.

“The enormous data delivery challenges facing government and defense agencies necessitate new and better file transfer solutions,” said Michelle Munson, Aspera President and Co-Founder. “The quantity of data to be exchanged and variety of network conditions – from high-speed global links, down to difficult low bandwidth DOD tactical links -- call for file transfer solutions that maximize bandwidth use and ensure reliable, fast, and predictable delivery over any type of network.”

Fast, reliable and secure distribution of large files and large file sets over the public internet and classified government IP networks have become a critical requirement for federal and defense agencies. The limitations of conventional file transfer technologies have made it impractical to efficiently and predictably distribute large data over these networks, including in some cases, to war fighters over difficult DOD tactical links. Such links are characterized by high packet loss, high latency and periods of intermittent connectivity losses. Under these conditions, conventional protocols such as FTP and HTTP are slow, and use only a fraction of the available bandwidth. Large transfers may not even complete, potentially jeopardizing critical missions.
