Kambiz Hooshmand, president and CEO, will step down on June 1, 2009

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (NASDAQ:AMCC), a global leader in providing energy efficient solutions to Process, Transport, and Store information for the next generation Internet Data Center and Carrier Central Office, announced today that Kambiz Hooshmand, President and Chief Executive Officer, will step down on June 1st 2009. Dr Paramesh Gopi, currently the Chief Operating Officer, will take over the role of President and CEO at that time.

It has been a tremendous opportunity to lead the transformation of AMCC to focus and evolve into the global leader for 10G Ethernet transport, connectivity, and packet processing solutions. Paramesh is a brilliant strategist with a keen and broad knowledge of customer applications and platforms. He will build upon the foundation we have created and lead AMCC in its next phase of success. This transition period will allow us to smoothly hand over responsibilities and communicate to our customers, investors, and partners.
