AMCC Adds to Board

AMCC announced that Donald Colvin has been elected to AMCC's board of directors

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Applied MicroCircuits Corporation (Nasdaq:AMCC) today announced that Donald Colvinhas been elected to AMCC's board of directors. Mr. Colvin's additionbrings the board of directors to a total of seven members.

"We are very pleased to have Mr. Colvin join our board of directors,"said Cesar Cesaratto, Chairman of the Board of AMCC. "His extensiveexperience leading finance and accounting operations for globalsemiconductor companies will greatly benefit the Company's board andmanagement team."

Donald Colvin is Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer andTreasurer of ON Semiconductor, a company that engages in the design,manufacture, and marketing of power and data management semiconductors,and standard semiconductor components worldwide. Prior to joining ONSemiconductor in March 2003, Mr. Colvin was Vice President Finance andChief Financial Officer of Atmel Corporation -- a manufacturer ofadvanced semiconductors -- since 1998. Prior to this, he served asChief Financial Officer for a subsidiary of Atmel. Between 1985 and1995, Mr. Colvin held various positions with European SiliconStructures (ES2) and was Chief Financial Officer from 1990 - 1995.While with Motorola Semiconductors Europe -- between 1977 and 1985 --Mr. Colvin held various financial management positions in the U.K.,Switzerland and France.

Mr. Colvin holds a B.A. (Honors) in Economics and an M.B.A. from theUniversity of Strathclyde. Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC)
