Alcatel and Telefonica Ally To Offer Enterprise Network Services

Partnership will deliver applications and services including IP telephony and unified communications.

Two of Europe's leading networking companies are teaming up to deliver enterprise communication solutions, focusing on IP telephony, contact centers and unified communications.

The newly announced partnership between France's Alcatel and Telefonica Soluciones of Spain is aimed at delivering value-added communications applications and services, including IP telephony, contact center and unified communications. Alcatel, the world's fifth largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer, will provide technology and services, while Telefonica Soluciones will apply its expertise to offer products and services that meet customers' specific needs.

The solutions will be based on Alcatel's OmniPCX Enterprise IP communication server. The OmniPCX Enterprise is an interactive communications server that allows medium-sized and corporate users deliver enterprise-wide Web services, next-generation unified communications and business process integration. Telefonica's role in the will be to provide system and application integration and customer relationship management services.

According to Luis Miguel Domnguez, contact center country manager of Alcatel's Enterprise Solutions in Spain, the partnership will allow the two companies to deliver a wide range of advanced converged communications applications. "This agreement will offer customers immediate benefits that combine advanced, software-based communications solutions with the implementation expertise of the leading applications integrator in the region," he said in a statement.
