3COM, Uniden Team Up To Deliver Cordless VoIP Phones

3Com Corporation and Uniden America Corporation yesterday unveiled a range of cordless VoIP multi-line phones for enterprises.

Based on Uniden's cordless technology, the 3Com 3106C and 3107C phones are designed to operate seamlessly with 3Com's NBXR IP telephony system. They offer extended range of up to 1000 feet from the base unit and will not interfere with IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi network radio signals.

"The 3Com NBX IP telephony system has a history of leading the market with cost effective solutions for small and mid-sized businesses," 3Com senior product manager Greg Zweig said in a statement. "By marrying Uniden's expertise in the cordless arena with the 3Com IP platform, we are offering the industry's first multi-line cordless IP phone for small and medium-sized businesses. Our combined expertise offers our customers a more productive working environment."

The 3106C can handle up to four lines and the 3107C can handle up to two. The telephone base unit itself can accommodate a maximum of ten 3106C phones and a up to three 3107 models within the same signal radius.

Consumer electronics manufacturer Uniden has been making considerable waves in the VoIP market recently. Last week, the company announced a joint venture with Vonage to bundle the consumer VoIP service with its UIP1869V telephone system.
