In reality, it will take more than one or two courageous leaders to give Linux and open-standard applications a foothold on the corporate desktop. Trouble is, no unified Linux solution offers the elegance and integration of the Windows/Office combination, or anything comparable to the massive base of Windows applications for enterprise-grade systems support and administration.
The major Linux developers must start developing mainstream desktop applications. One can only hope that concerns over slow initial sales or a fear of invoking Microsoft's wrath won't prevent developers from providing this leadership.
