Gateway Inc. announced a low-cost server platform specifically designed for small businesses. Offering a broad selection of processors -- including Intel's dual-core technology -- the servers also have RAID 5 functionality and redundant power capabilities, and retail for $599.
Gateway also announced a new line of S-Series desktop and notebook PCs specifically designed to meet the needs of small businesses. S-Series desktops come in three models, a three-by system and six-bay and seven-bay versions. The systems' tool-free design uses thumb-screws and easy-release latches for quick system entry and access of internal components. All are based on 64-bit processors, ranging from the Celeron to Pentium D dual-core processors. The S-Series offers Serial ATA hard drives ranging from 40GB to 400GB, and can be configured with up to 4GB of DDR2 memory. S-Series notebooks include widescreen displays, lightweight designs, and optional port replicators. All S-Series systems come with the Gateway Internet Security Shield, a combination of Norton Internet Security 2005 and McAfee Anti-Spyware.
The Gateway E-922OT is a scalable and expandable server capable of growing with a company. The tower chassis supports a wide range of processors, including Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium 4, and the dual core-enabled Intel Pentium D and Intel Pentium Extreme Edition. The unit also offers Intel's E7230 chipset specifically designed for entry-level servers. The server also offers multiple hard drive options with support for up to four SATA or SCSI hard drives totally 1.6TB of internal storage. There are five expansion slots (three PCI express slots and two 32-bit PCI slots); multi-optical drive support including CD, DVD/CD-RW, and DVD-RW; and Gateway System Management Monitoring Service.
The E-9220T supports multiple Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP1 operating systems including standard and premium editions of 2003 Small Business Server SP1, 2003 Standard Edition SP1, 2003 Enterprise Edition SP1, and 2003 Web Edition SP1.
