NEW YORK & MILFORD, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AdaptivCool, the data center thermal management division of Degree Controls, Inc. (DegreeC), today announced that the installation of its data center cooling technology at a large Manhattan bank resulted in the bank's receipt of a $16,000.00 incentive from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

AdaptivCool's technology is projected to reduce the bank's energy consumption just over 200,000 kilowatt hours in the first year, while providing quick return on investment (ROI).

"Data centers account for 1.5% of the nation's total electric usage so it is important that large and small enterprises be aware of efficient technologies and the incentive options that are available to them to help reduce energy costs," said Francis J. Murray Jr., President and CEO of NYSERDA. "Continued collaboration between NYSERDA, our partners, and customers like AdaptivCool, will lead to realization of Governor David A. Paterson's comprehensive energy strategy and a cleaner, healthier environment."

For the project, AdaptivCool employed its Room Scale Intelligent Cooling (RSIC) technology, which uses strategically-placed temperature sensors to send information to a sophisticated Cooling Resource Manager that calculates minute-by-minute cooling demand throughout the data center and controls airflow dynamically via floor- and ceiling-mounted air movers.

"Today's IT and facilities managers are looking for cost-effective solutions to combat their data center energy consumption," said Rajesh Nair, AdaptivCool's General Manager. "AdaptivCool's data center energy solutions, coupled with incentives like NYSERDA's, provide data center operators with a solution that reduces their energy bill and an ROI that makes sense."
