PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) today announced a new color sheetfed scanner that is 50 percent faster than similarly priced competitive products, small enough to fit on a desktop, optimized to scan ID cards and includes ultrasonic double-feed detection technology. The latest generation in this award-winning scanning series, the Xerox DocuMate 262i scans at 76 images per minute and lists for $1,195.

The DocuMate 262i is designed for desktop use in any office where scanning plastic ID cards, business cards, documents or other heavy card stock is necessary. It incorporates a new, patent-pending front-feed tray that not only increases ID card scanning efficiency in healthcare and financial services applications but also reduces roller wear by up to 60 percent over competing brands, resulting in lower total cost of ownership. The DocuMate 262i also includes ultrasonic double-feed detection technology that will alert the user if double feeding of originals occurs during scanning. This technology prevents lost images and enables paper of different weights or thickness to be scanned quickly and reliably.

The DocuMate 262i is powered by Visioneer OneTouch® scanning technology for eliminating multiple steps in sending scanned documents in all popular file formats, including searchable PDF, to predetermined applications such as Microsoft SharePoint, Kofax Ascent Capture, EMC QuickScan Pro, Hyland OnBase and/or to devices such as printers and storage systems in just one touch.

“The DocuMate 262i’s combination of price and performance is unmatched. It scans 50 percent faster than similarly priced competitive products,” said Murray L. Dennis, president and CEO of Visioneer, a Xerox licensing partner and developer of the DocuMate product line. “It also incorporates Visioneer OneTouch® technology, an exclusive utility that connects the button on your scanner with powerful software drivers so that with one touch your document is automatically scanned and delivered to any destination you choose. While some competing products also have scan buttons, they still require multiple clicks to complete the job.”
