LOWELL, Mass. -- Acopia NetworksR, Inc., the leader in high-performance intelligent file virtualization, today announced thatWebEx, the leading provider of on-demand applications for collaborative business on the web, has chosen to deploy Acopia ARX systems, to support its data tiering initiatives.

Today, the ARX systems are being used by WebEx to move less active data fromTier 1 storage to a less expensive Tier 2 platform. This has allowed WebExto reclaim high-performance storage resources and defer the purchase ofadditional Tier 1 disk storage. Instead, WebEx has been able to purchasesignificantly less expensive disk storage to support its Tier 2 data.

"We were looking for a new approach to managing our storage resources," saidKarloz Abad Santos, senior systems administrator, WebEx. "We werecomfortable with Acopia's use of industry standard technology and supportfor both NFS and CIFS protocols. During our lab tests, we found Acopiaoffered excellent manageability and ease of use. Additionally, the ARXgives us the freedom to archive data to virtually any storage medium ratherthan being locked-in to a specific approach."
