DENVER -- ViaWest, a leading provider of adaptable colocation and managed hosting solutions in the Rocky Mountain region, today announced it has completed the SAS 70 Type II examination for its data centers in Colorado and Utah and has begun the examination for its facilities in Oregon.

The examination, performed by Deloitte & Touche, LLP, looks into the sustainability of ViaWests controls and safeguards as well as the operating effectiveness of those controls within the processes of its data centers. By completing the SAS 70 Type II examination, ViaWest is reaffirming its commitment to its customers by helping them address their control requirements over the processing of financial data and other sensitive company information under Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 (SOX 404).

According to Deloitte & Touche, LLP, companies are placing greater pressure and reliance on their service providers and their controls environment to assist in managing their own risk. As a result, an increasing number of service providers, such as ViaWest, are completing SAS 70 Type II examinations to help their customers mitigate their risk and comply with Sarbanes-Oxley.

“ViaWest is committed to bringing the best value and service to our clients,” said Nancy Phillips, co-founder and COO, ViaWest. “The completion of the SAS 70 Type II exam demonstrates our continued dedication to maintain the controls and the environment throughout our data centers to ensure the highest standards of quality and security.”
