Sanbolic provides high availability for Citrix Provisioning Server
January 26, 2008
WATERTOWN, Mass. -- Sanbolic, Inc., a leading developer of software to simplify and share SAN storage, today announced that Melio 2008 and LaScala 2008 have been certified by Citrix for its Provisioning Server™ products. As a part of the certification process Citrix (NASDAQ CTXS) completed extensive performance testing of the combined solution. Some of the results are published in Delivering a Highly-Available Citrix Provisioning Server using Sanbolic Melio FS on the Citrix website. Citrix Provisioning Server’s (PVS) datacenter and desktop products deliver virtualized images - operating systems, core applications and configuration information - on-demand to physical or virtual servers and desktop from a network service, reducing total cost of ownership, and improving manageability and business agility. Sanbolic’s products are designed to support Windows applications which benefit from central administration of a large virtual storage pool accessed by multiple physical or virtual servers, and to provide concurrent shared read and write access to a shared file system from multiple servers. In Citrix PVS installations, Sanbolic software allows the configuration data base, the virtualized images, called vDisks, and target device write caches to be stored on a shared volume on SAN storage. This enables I/O requests to be load balanced, and allows servers and desktops provisioned using PVS to operate normally even if a physical server running PVS were to fail.
“With its ability to simplify and streamline server and desktop configuration, delivery, maintenance and management, as well as extend Citrix Presentation Server application delivery and XenServer server virtualization capabilities, Citrix Provisioning Server is a very powerful and versatile solution,” said N. Louis Shipley, Citrix Vice President. “Sanbolic provides customers with an attractive option to implement highly available Provisioning Server architectures with SAN storage.” Sanbolic software currently supports Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003 R2 and Windows Server 2008. Sanbolic distributes its product solutions worldwide through a network of distributors, OEMs, VARs and system integrators. Sanbolic will be exhibiting this solution at the Citrix Summit in Orlando January 28-30. About Sanbolic, Inc.
