QLogic announced the availability of the industry's first iSCSI HBA functionality to be accepted into the 'upstream' Linux kernel

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. -- QLogic Corp.(Nasdaq:QLGC), a leading provider of iSCSI HBAs, today announced theavailability of the industry's first iSCSI HBA functionality to be acceptedinto the "upstream" Linux kernel. Developed by the Linux community, theupstream Linux kernel is the central core of popular Linux packagesincluding Debian, Red Hat, SuSE, Slackware and Yellowdog. The company'scollaboration with the Linux community and the acceptance of the QLogicSANblade(r) 4000 Series functionality into the Linux kernel means that forthe first time Linux system administrators can easily deploy fully testedand supported iSCSI networks -- right out of the box.

"Now that iSCSI technology has matured, and the Linux community has acceptedit into the kernel, the way is paved for accelerated deployment of thetechnology," said Amit Vashi, senior director of marketing, QLogic ComputerSystems Group. "Today anyone that downloads a kernel will have immediateaccess to iSCSI connectivity and upcoming distributions will have iSCSIconnectivity included on their respective CDs."
