QLogic first to demonstrate 8-Gbyte Fibre Channel HBAs with PCI Express 2.0 at Intel Developer Forum

SAN FRANCISCO -- QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC), a leader in networking for storage andhigh performance computing, today announced it is the first company todemonstrate PCI Express 2.0 functionality with its 8Gb Fibre ChannelHBAs running on the Intel "Stoakley" platform. The Stoakley platformfeatures PCI Express 2.0, a new bus for workstations and servers withthe bandwidth to support high speed I/O like 8Gb Fibre Channel. Thepowerful combination of SANblade 2500 Series Fibre Channel HBAsinstalled in workstations and servers equipped with PCI Express 2.0slots will reduce backup time, accelerate disk-to-disk replication andspeed-up the transfer of rich media such as video.
