FREMONT, Calif. -- Panasas, Inc., the leader in parallel clustered storage solutions for the High Performance Computing (HPC) market, today announced the addition of the 15 terabyte (TB) ActiveStor 3150 to the ActiveStor 3000 parallel storage cluster product family. This new high-capacity solution is optimized for use with data-intensive Linux cluster applications such as seismic processing, electronic design automation (EDA) simulation, and large-scale modeling where superior application performance and low cost per gigabyte are the primary buying criteria.
The ActiveStor 3150 (AS3150) delivers 15 TBs of storage capacity per 4U shelf, and up to 150 TBs in a single-rack system which can be installed in as little as 15 minutes. In addition, multiple rack systems can be configured in a single storage cluster that can scale to petabytes of capacity to simplify storage management. Customers can maximize the use of their compute clusters by eliminating the wait time for data from storage, improve IT productivity, and accelerate time to results. The AS3150 extends the ActiveStor 3000 product family which also includes the AS3100 which supports up to 10 TBs in a 4U shelf, or 100 TBs in a single-rack system.
The ActiveStor 3000 product family is designed to meet the needs of customers running modeling and simulation applications that need the highest capacity with the best price/performance ratio,” said Len Rosenthal, chief marketing officer for Panasas. “The AS3150 packs 50 percent more capacity in the same single-rack system configuration at a cost per gigabyte of up to 30 percent less than the AS3100. Additionally, organizations receve the full benefits of the highest available bandwidth, unsurpassed scalability, complete data availability and exceptional manageability.”
