HAVANT, U.K. -- Xyratex Ltd. (NASDAQ: XRTX), a leading provider of enterprise class data storage subsystems and storage process technology, today announced that it has signed an OEM integration agreement with Overland Storage, a leading provider of tape and disk backup and recovery solutions.

Under this agreement, Overland Storage will integrate Xyratexs F5402E 4Gb FC-SAS/SATA RAID system into its ULTAMUS RAID 1200 product, a highly scalable and affordable storage solution for small and medium-sized enterprises. The ULTAMUS RAID 1200 leverages the Xyratex F5402E to house a combination of 12 SATA II or SAS drives and up to 9 TB of storage capacity in each compact 2U rack-mountable enclosure. The extensible system can scale up to 60 drives and accommodates between 1.75 TB and 45 TB of data. The system can also be deployed as a standalone solution or in conjunction with Overland’s REO SERIES® disk backup, recovery and VTL appliance and NEO SERIES® and ARCvault™ tape libraries.

“Overland Storage selected Xyratex and the F5402E FC-SAS/SATA RAID system because of Xyratex’s long history of delivering high-quality, high-volume RAID products to the storage industry,” said Scott McClendon, chairman and CEO, Overland Storage. “The responsiveness of Xyratex from the first meeting to the time they delivered our product was unprecedented. After comparing the Xyratex offering to the alternatives, it was clear that we were looking at a best-in-class solution. In addition to technology, we are confident that Xyratex’s manufacturing and logistical expertise will help Overland Storage meet the exploding demand for high performance storage and backup solutions in the small and medium-sized enterprise markets.”

“Overland Storage has long been known for the quality of its data protection solutions,” said Todd Gresham, executive vice president, Networked Storage Solutions division, Xyratex. “This latest integration of Xyratex SAS RAID technology is evidence that our innovative, highly reliable and quality driven storage technologies coupled with advanced operational and integration manufacturing expertise can help accelerate demand for complementary solutions, such as Overland’s tape and disk backup and recovery products.”
