Oracle VM Supports Emulex

SAN FRANCISCO -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) today announced that its LightPulse(r)Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) are supported with the newOracle(r) VM server virtualization software. Emulex has taken aleadership position in connecting virtual servers to the SAN, enablingend users to more effectively utilize their resources and more easilyadjust to changing demand.

Unveiled today at Oracle OpenWorld, Oracle VM offers scalable, low-costserver virtualization which fully supports both Oracle and non-Oracleapplications. This is the only server virtualization environmentcertified to run with an entire Oracle software stack, including OracleDatabase, Oracle Fusion Middleware, the Oracle E-Business Suite,Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise, Siebel CRM and other OracleApplications.

Emulex is also working closely with Oracle to integrate support for itsLightPulse Virtual HBA technology with industry-standard N-Port IDVirtualization (NPIV) into Oracle VM. This technology enables customersto effectively 'virtualize' SAN connections so that each virtualmachine has independent access to its own protected storage. Inaddition, Emulex LightPulse Virtual HBA technology allowsadministrators to seamlessly deploy SAN-based virtual machines whilemaintaining existing SAN management tools and best practices, such asunique zoning and LUN masking at the virtual machine level.
