NASHUA, N.H. -- NTP Software, the worldwide leader in the control and management of unstructured data, today announced NTP Software UDA, an application that links NTP Software QFS®, which provides policy-based control of file data (unstructured data), with Symantec (Nasdaq: SYMC) Enterprise Vault, the industry’s leading email, file and content archiving platform.

NTP Software UDA™, the latest addition to NTP Software’s product portfolio, enables employees to manually archive files into Enterprise Vault based on individual selections, or the user can select from a predefined set of criteria such as file size, age of last access, etc. (User-Driven Archiving™ – UDA). Customers may also choose to establish policies that automatically archive files as users reach their storage limits (Quota-Driven Archiving™). Both methods allow companies to control storage and operating costs, and expedite backups by moving files from a primary storage environment to lower-cost tiered storage with Enterprise Vault.

“Customers have different requirements for archiving from file systems and need options to either automate archival, to allow users to manually archive only business-relevant files or leverage a combination of both options,” said Simon Jelley, Senior Director, Enterprise Vault Product Management, Symantec. “The integration with NTP Software UDA enables end-users to drive which files are put into the archive based on the business value of the files.”
