WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Syncsort, a global leader in high-performance data processing, data integration and data protection and recovery software, today announced a new professional services offering for organizations who are planning to deploy server virtualization. Syncsort's MVP (Migration, Verification and Protection) service is performed by technical specialists who help plan, manage, verify and rapidly deploy minimally-disruptive physical to virtual migration of data, applications and servers. This critical offering is expected to become a routine requirement to provide customers with the flexibility to rapidly and securely migrate their server environments.

The MVP service delivers:

  • Safe and rapid P2V and V2V migration of critical applications and servers

  • Data protection and availability throughout the migration process with  minimal impact to the  environment

  • Multiple migration checkpoints for live testing with safe fallback to a physical server

  • Monitoring of both physical and virtual environment

  • Full protection in the post-migration period

The MVP service will be distributed and delivered by reseller partners of Syncsort, Inc. These IT professionals will utilize Syncsort's best practices P2V migration solutions with Syncsort BEX data protection software, and they will be formally trained and fully authorized by experienced Syncsort engineers. Resellers of the MVP service will be able to create greater value to their customers and more opportunities for their businesses.

An October 2009 study conducted by Ziff Davis Enterprise on behalf of Syncsort concluded that 64% of "Involved in Virtualization" respondents felt that Physical to Server Virtualization efforts were moderately to highly difficult. Through planning, expertise and Syncsort's unique technology innovations, the MVP service helps organizations bypass many common physical-to-virtual challenges. These include long cutover windows, application unavailability, migration failures, and exposure to prolonged business interruption.

Taco Incorporated, a Rhode-Island based HVAC manufacturing and supply company, employed a preliminary version of the MVP service. "With Syncsort, our physical-to-virtual transition was very easy and worked flawlessly," said Dennis Rachiele, Senior Network Administrator at Taco, Inc.

"The new Syncsort MVP service offering will significantly assist us as we implement server virtualization with our customers," said Rob Cotter, Chief Technology Officer of Insight Integrated Systems, a vendor-independent solution provider. "Unlike other migration offerings, MVP also provides the associated business continuance features required for data protection. Syncsort is providing the tools we need to help our customers move successfully and safely to server virtualization."This program is part of Syncsort's broader commitment to improving data centers through the combination of technology, service innovations and distribution channels. The MVP service supports users migrating to VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V environments.

"The goal of the MVP service is to help customers accelerate their efforts to migrate to virtualized environments faster and safer so that they can maximize their ROI opportunity with server virtualization," said Joe Stamboulie, Director of Customer Services at Syncsort. "As organizations choose to consolidate their primary servers to gain data center efficiencies, they often build up unnecessary costs and leave themselves exposed. The MVP service mitigates risks during the migration process, maximizes hardware and storage efficiencies, and accelerates time-to value."
