Luminex Announces Solution

TAMPA, Fla. -- Luminex Software, Inc., a leading developer of mainframe connectivity, channel gateway, storage and data distribution products, announced today at the SHARE Technology Exchange Expo that its customer, Shoden Data Systems, has installed a tape-less mainframe backup, recovery and disaster recovery replication solution for one of their premier clients, the leading retail company in the Republic of South Africa.

The mainframe solution is in production now, and is enabled by Luminexs Channel Gateway™ 3600, which provides native FICON tape connectivity directly to the mainframe. The Channel Gateway is non-disruptive and works with all existing mainframe backup software and applications. Shoden has integrated industry-leading data de-duplication technology coupled with Hitachi Data Systems FC disk storage to create a tape-less backup and disaster recovery process and is enjoying the benefits of 20-to-1 backup compression resulting in greater efficiencies, increased reliability and enhanced data security.
