IBM Adds Tape Solutions

IBM announced the next generation of tape solutions for IBM mainframe customers

ARMONK, N.Y. -- IBM today announced the next generation oftape solutions for IBM mainframe customers, with significant enhancementsto the IBMR Virtualization EngineT TS7740, an IBM mainframe virtual-tapeoffering designed to support business continuity, improved tape processingand energy efficiency through grid computing connectivity and automatedreplication. IBM today also debuted additional tape and disk storageofferings for midrange and enterprise organizations.

As power consumption in data centers becomes an increasing focus forcustomers, IBM has increased its portfolio of "green" storage solutionsacross energy efficient technologies, particularly tape storage andvirtualization solutions which provide optimal capacity utilization andlow-power alternatives.
