AUSTIN, Texas -- Gresham Enterprise Storage, the leading developer of data protection solutions with vision, has appointed corporate sales, marketing, and storage technology expert Edward C. Ahl as vice president of sales and marketing for North America. Bringing extensive executive management experience in storage and backup to Gresham, Ahl is restructuring Greshams sales organization to increase market penetration by building an integrated strategy that incorporates complementary new channel sales and inside sales programs aligned with a comprehensive approach to corporate and channel marketing.
Ahl joins Gresham Enterprise Storage with 30 years of experience across a range of Fortune 500 firms and startups, ranging from IBM, CommVault Systems, AT&T, Xerox, Westinghouse, DISC, and most recently VTL and deduplication vendors FalconStor Software and Data Domain. Ahl has a track record of spearheading successful transitions of companies from developers to recognized providers of advanced storage management solutions to both the enterprise and mid-markets. At AT&T Network Systems/CommVault as Western Regional VP of Sales, he developed broad market presence in undeveloped territories contributing to significant sales revenue growth.
"Ed’s background and expertise make him a credible ambassador for Gresham’s enterprise data protection solutions when educating prospective customers and the market about the unparalleled advantages of Gresham’s Clareti EDT and Clareti VTL. In an increasingly crowded VTL space clearly looking for technology and business partnership alternatives, Ed is uniquely qualified to elevate Gresham’s reputation,” said Gary Gibbs, EVP of Gresham Enterprise Storage. “Ed’s management experience, technological proficiency, and enthusiasm for doing what it takes to build sales are the right fit for Gresham. He has already hit the ground running.”
“Gresham delivers elegant solutions to the enterprise backup and data protection management problem, and is poised at the threshold of a tremendous business opportunity. With the addition of Ed Ahl to the executive team, it’s clear that Gresham is making a serious commitment to solve the needs of a broader spectrum of customers and thereby drive revenues,” said Brad O’Neill, Senior Analyst, Taneja Group.
“The benefits we bring to enterprise IT in the form of backup resource visibility, manageability, solution scalability, and radically lower operational costs have been an unrealized desire until Gresham’s arrival. To get the word out about the business value Gresham delivers, my mission is to implement new processes that make the most of Gresham’s existing internal resources and customer relationships, while putting more feet on the street,” said Ahl. “In order to continue building visibility and credibility with customers and the marketplace, we need to engage strategically with quality channel partners who have a strong presence as trusted advisors to enterprise customers. To this end, we are also expanding our inside sales team and crafting a strong corporate and channel marketing presence to support our sales outreach.”
