Google: Porn? Users Don't Want No Stinkin' Porn!

An interview in this week's Time cover story on Google has this interesting tidbit: Larry Page says that only "a small, single-digit percentage" of people search for porn on Google. Time didn't follow up the question, so it's difficult to know exactly from where Page gets those numbers. But I hope he's right, because there's a widespread myth that porn-searching and viewing is one of the biggest uses of the Internet.

By the way, aside from that piece of information about porn, Time's interview with Sergey Brin, Eric Schmidt and Larry Page is one of the most forgettable interviews you'll ever come across. There are no questions about Google's censoring of its China Web site, about its standing up to the feds and refusing to comply with a subpoena that it believes is privacy-invading, about its possible plans for a nationwide broadband network, or about much else.
