GlassHouse Bows Managed Services
GlassHouse launches breakthrough suite of managed services for virtual environments at VMWorld 2008
September 16, 2008
LAS VEGAS and FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- GlassHouse Technologies, a leading independent IT infrastructure consulting and services firm, today announced the launch of a pioneering suite of Managed Services for Virtual Environments. The new services are delivered via an advanced Management Interface that leverages virtualization management software from Tek-Tools Software. This combination results in unparalleled visibility, monitoring and reporting of customers virtualized IT environments. GlassHouse will showcase the capabilities of the new services at VMWorld 2008 Booth # 440 in Las Vegas.
The new offering fills a significant gap in the market – the lack of managed services that are purpose-built for virtual environments – at a time when organizations are increasingly adopting virtualization technologies. According to research firm IDC, this trend is expected to continue with the virtualization services market predicted to reach $11.7 billion by 2011. Managed Services for Virtual Environments will help to eliminate a barrier to the broader adoption of virtualization technologies by meeting the market need for a solution that offers deeper insight into the productivity, capacity and ROI of their virtual machines.
Development of Managed Services for Virtual Environments grew from customer engagements where GlassHouse planned, designed and deployed effective virtualization strategies. In those engagements, GlassHouse identified the need for more in-depth instruction for customers on how to maintain visibility, measure results and effectively manage the environments. Already providing these capabilities for storage and backup environments, GlassHouse developed a Management Interface integrated with Tek-Tools’ Profiler for VMware to provide a single pane view into the virtual environment and a comprehensive service to manage virtualized IT assets.
The new service provides monitoring and reporting capabilities that enable users to maximize availability, track system configurations and manage utilization, in turn, helping companies reduce IT costs. Leveraging and analyzing output through the Management Interface, GlassHouse consultant’s help customers interpret the data and use detailed capacity and utilization reports to effectively manage their virtual environments.
“This new service offering is an unprecedented solution through which companies will have access to managed services that have been designed specifically for virtual environments,” Mark Shirman, CEO of GlassHouse. “Working in tandem with Tek-Tools and other partners, we are meeting a significant market need and providing IT organizations with the added visibility, monitoring and reporting that is critical for high-value virtual workloads. We expect these managed services to help drive the adoption of virtualization in companies of all sizes.”
