TORONTO -- Fortiva Inc. a leading provider of on-demand email archiving, today announced the availability of the Fortiva SmartStore archive, a cost-effective way for businesses to meet the demands of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP), without adding to their existing infrastructure or IT staffing requirements. This Software as a Service (SaaS) solution allows businesses to centrally archive all email, enforce policies and litigation holds, perform enterprise search and easily conduct early case assessment, all for the same or less than the cost of storing and managing the data on enterprise storage in-house. SmartStore’s stubbing feature can also significantly reduce the demands on Exchange, improving email storage management.

Having effective search and retrieval capabilities for email is increasingly becoming a top priority for businesses. Under the FRCP, all corporate email can be requested for legal discovery. Failing to enforce a consistent retention policy and being unprepared to produce email data within very tight timelines may result in a presumption of guilt, cost millions in fines or settlements and damage credibility.

“If you are storing corporate email, you need to be prepared for e-discovery – it’s that simple.” said Rick Dales, VP Product Management, Fortiva. “Businesses should be able to comply with the FRCP requirements and meet e-discovery requests without significantly adding to their current storage costs. As an entry-level archive, SmartStore makes this possible without charging for unnecessary features or placing additional demands on IT.”
